Identifying, funding, and supporting exceptional scholars.
“The Alexander Hamilton Foundation identifies, funds, and supports exceptional scholars in the humanities, arts, and social sciences, with particular attention to advancing the intellectual pluralism that rigorous inquiry in a free society requires.”
What we do
The Alexander Hamilton Foundation supports rigorous scholarship in the humanities, arts, and social sciences in the United States of America. We award fellowships and research grants across the academic career, and work with leading universities to strengthen inquiry into the institutions, ideas, and people that shape public life.
We support scholars, not agendas. Selection is competitive, grounded in peer review, and guided by the standards of the disciplines and fields we support.
How we work
We support scholars across the full arc of the academic career, from dissertation through post-tenure research. Our programs are designed to complement, not replace, the institutional homes where excellent scholarship is done. The Foundation does not direct the content of research and selects without regard to protected characteristics.
